If I may generalize, (whose permission exactly am I asking? I'm not sure anyone's read this but my roommate) our society is filled with vacuous, callous imbeciles. Don't get me wrong, I may be the most cynical person out there (and I like McDonald's just as much as the next guy), but at least I have some damn sense about me. I'm dissatisfied with my life, "but at least I author my own disaster". I possess some understanding of exactly what it is that disenchants me with life. I'm seeking solutions to my problems, and that's all I can do for now.
But with some of these people, you just can't fucking win. Whether it be an encounter with some asshole walking down the street who notices me in a UCLA t-shirt saying I made a mistake and should have gone to USC, or with someone who says something as asinine as "you're eating that wrong", or with someone who mispronounces even monosyllabic words, I end up infuriated.
Where the fuck did you go to school, asshole? Just because you watch college football doesn't mean you know anything about education.
How can you eat something wrong, you fucking imbecile? As long as you've chewed, swallowed, and managed not to choke, you've succeeded.
Did you really not notice that 'L' in the word 'WOLF'? Perhaps saying 'WOOF' is just a way of showcasing that your IQ is roughly equivalent to that of a dog.
But really, I'm not as concerned about these things as with the general malaise that plagues the masses (despite the fact that mispronunciation of wolf is one of my biggest pet peeves). There certainly is an emotional crisis in our society. Is no one capable of relating to another on an emotional level?
Let's face it, I'm an emotional person. I do, of course, appreciate conversations about preference in music, movies, television, et cetera. But are these the criteria for a friendship? I tend to think not.
I'd love to have conversations concerning the nature of identity with an intelligent and empathetic person. Is that too much to ask?
Probably...
